Tea country at 1,600 metres. Cool enough for a jacket in the evening, close enough to reach from Kochi in four hours. Best paired with Alleppey if you have a third day.

Alleppey Houseboat

Alappuzha → Backwaters → Alappuzha

You board at noon, the boat moves through village canals all afternoon, then anchors on open water for the night. Meals are cooked on board. It is the least strenuous trip we sell and quietly the most popular.

Fort Kochi, the Chinese fishing nets, Jew Town and Mattancherry Palace. Usually a half-day either side of Munnar.

Coffee hills, ruins and an honest coastline
